Rotary is about Service and Fellowship. Rotarians know that these two ideas go hand-in-hand because, through the fellowship of our service projects, we build our friendships that last a lifetime.
While the clubs around the world tailor their own service projects to one or more of Rotary International's Six (+one) Areas of Focus, all clubs are united in one common goal - the global eradication of polio. So, when you see the slogan "We are this close" to polio eradication, you will know that 1.2 million Rotarians are working tirelessly to make that happen. At the Rotary Club of Istanbul Suadiye with our 49 members, we proudly support this effort with our contributions to Rotary International's Annual and Polio Plus Funds.
Since its establishment year, 1984, our club has been providing community humanitarian aid projects. Especially, one of them has become a lifetime project. We give support to ZICEV, Mentally Handicapped Children Education Foundation. Every year, for the last 20 years, we simply take care of some of their on-going needs from educational material to repair works of their building.
Our Scholarship Project is a very good example of a sustainable Rotary project as we have been doing it for the last 25 years. This service year, 2020-2021, we have 80 scholarship students who are sponsored by our club members and, our club. These 80 students; 57 of whom are to university students, 18 to elementary-secondary-high school students, and 5 of them who are under the protection of ZIÇEV. With this project, we support with scholarship these children, young men, and women who would like to continue their high school and university education but who cannot financially afford it. Each scholarship student receives the scholarship until the day they graduate. Among the applicant students or the ones who have been nominated by our club members or friends, we select the most suitable ones within our budget for this project.
As part of our Youth Services projects, Istanbul Suadiye Rotarians twice a year host Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) This twice a year 2-day event provides leadership and vocational training to over 30 area university and high school students with team-building activities, dynamic speakers, and leadership workshops.

Avenues of Service
Rotary clubs around the world channel the commitment to service at home and abroad through the following main five Avenues of Service, which are the foundation of club activity.
Community Service encourages every member of Rotary (Rotarian) to find ways to improve the quality of life for people in their communities and to serve the public interest
Youth Service recognizes the importance of empowering youth and young professionals through leadership development programs such as Rotaract, Interact, Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (see below for details), and Rotary Youth Exchange.
Vocational Service calls on every Rotarian to contribute with their profession and expertise to the problems and needs of society. We open courses for people to make them learn professions.
International Service exemplifies our global reach in promoting peace and understanding. We support this service avenue by sponsoring or volunteering on international projects, seeking partners abroad, and more.
Club Service focuses on making a club strong. Our thriving club is anchored by strong relationships and an active membership development plan.
