Community Service

Community Service is one of the most important avenues of our club. That’s why we divided this service into 2 teams with 6 members each.

Community Service – Heath and

Community Service – Literacy and Basic Education

Within these two community services, our members find ways to improve the quality of life for people in their communities and to serve the public interest.

In the Heath Community Service, we work closely with the health professionals, medical university managers as well as with specialist associations who are usually dedicated and focused on a certain subject. Besides, we also cooperate with other Rotary and Rotaract Clubs in Istanbul, Turkey, and/or abroad. The projects can be large or small depending on our fundraising capabilities at that time for a project.  The project subjects could be purchasing medical equipment, laboratory supplies, or providing training to the staff, etc.

Our Literacy and  Basic Education  Community Service team opens literacy courses for the adults, provides books and library furniture to schools, renovates school rooms to create new library rooms, and repairs the school buildings.

In addition to providing scholarships to some students, we also provide scholarship students with training on a variety of topics from Rotarians, who are experts in their fields, during the brunch events we hold twice a year. We also try to create job opportunities for our scholarship students after graduating from their universities, and support them to find a good job.

Rotary's programs for students and young people can change the lives of those participating in the programs. Through the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA), and programs such as Rotaract and Interact, young people can earn scholarships, travel culturally, or help the community through a service project.

RYLA

The Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is an intensive training program for youth leaders of the community. Young people selected for their leadership potential to participate in a seminar organized by us to discuss and develop leadership skills through practice. During the 2-day seminar, Rotary member presenters demonstrate the importance we attach to young people and offer an effective educational experience for young potential leaders. The content of this program is at the forefront of encouraging youth leadership and appreciating young people serving their communities.

RYLA enables our Rotary Club to acknowledge the service of youth to the community while exposing a large number of young people, their families, and peer groups to the Rotary ideals of service. This program opens the visions of young leaders, offers them enhanced leadership techniques, and helps prepare them for future participation in Rotaract and Rotary clubs.
